White Grotto
The White Grotto and the Wonderful Grotto are two caverns which laid one upon the other, both are easy to approach from the sea thanks to a very steep stairway, which was built in 1901 by two Englishmen. The caverns are extremely evocative owing to the strange shapes that their stalactites and stalagmites assumed in the ages. The White Grotto is divided in two communicating fields by an artificial canal which is almost two metres wide. The first field is 300 metres wide, while the second one is much smaller. Recently, here has been founded some spring-water. The Wonderful Grotto is particular owing to its own horizontal sediments which are all extremely visible.
